Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Prescribing is an important development for the nursing profession and improves the quantity and quality of health care and increases the professional independence of nurses. The present study aimed to investigate the status of nursing prescribing and the results of studies conducted in this field in Iran and to identify challenges and opportunities. Materials and Methods: This is a narrative review study conducted in 1403 on published studies on nurse prescribing in Iran, in Persian and English. Data collection was done by searching with Persian keywords of prescribing, nurse, prescription and English keywords, Nurse, Prescriber, Prescribing, Prescription, were searched independently and in combination using specific search indicators in national (SID, Magiran ) and international (Science Direct, PubMed, Google Scholar) databases, without time limits. Findings: After careful review, 18 articles were included in the study. 9 were qualitative articles, 4 were quantitative articles, 3 were review articles, and 2 were letters to the editor. The results showed that the discussion of nursing prescriptions in Iran is a new topic, and attention to it is increasing among health policymakers and nursing researchers. Conclusion: Nursing prescription in Iran has not yet been recognized as a legal duty. By reforming the laws related to it, a positive impact can be made on the Iranian health system and the improvement of health services.
