Abstract
Introduction:Artificial intelligence, as one of today’s advanced and innovative technologies, has permeated various scientific and applied fields, significantly impacting nursing as a crucial area of healthcare. The growing demand for nursing care due to population growth and health issues has become a major challenge. This review study aims to investigate the challenges of artificial intelligence in nursing. Methods: This is a narrative review study.A search was conducted using English and Farsi keywords such as "Artificial intelligence," "Nursing," "Health Care," "artificial intelligence in medicine," "digital medicine,""Challenges,"and "technology."The search was performed in valid scientific databases, including Science Direct, PubMed, Scopus, SID, Magiran, and the Google Scholar search engine. The search covered the period from 2016 to 2023. Articles not related to the research's purpose or published as a letter to the editor were excluded from the study.Out of 36 articles that were searched, 17 related to the challenges of artificial intelligence in nursing were discussed. Results:The most fundamental challenge of using artificial intelligence in healthcare is the need for more accurate and complete patient data. Patient safety is a significant concern that requires measures to ensure its accuracy.Convenient diagnosis and disease prediction are some benefits of highly accurate artificial intelligence algorithms.Precision and accuracy in decision-making, employee training, and ethical considerations are essential for implementing artificial intelligence in the clinical environment. Conclusion:Given artificial intelligence's increasing involvement in medical and healthcare decision-making, it's essential to implement effective strategies to address challenges and prevent errors in diagnosis and treatment. This can ultimately improve the quality of patient care and streamline nursing processes.
